Beware of Liver Diseases

The liver is an organ about the size of a football that sits just under your rib cage on the right side of your abdomen. The liver is essential for digesting food and ridding your body of toxic substances. The liver is a resilient, maintenance-free organ that’s easy to ignore – until something goes wrong. Because of its wide-ranging responsibilities, the liver often comes under attack by viruses, toxic substances like alcohol, contaminants and disease.

01.Anaemia

According to modern science, liver disorders are based upon cause and effect which include infection, injury, exposure to toxic compounds, genetic defects, cancer, etc. Among the most common symptoms, inflammation, fatty acid obstructions, clotting abnormalities and liver failure are pointed out in majority of the cases.

In Ayurveda, the liver disorder is grouped and termed as Yakruth Vikaras. Yakruth means liver and Vikara refers to disorder or derangement or disfigured or diseased condition.

02.Thalassemia

Signs and symptoms of liver disease include:

  • Skin and eyes that appear yellowish (jaundice)
  • Abdominal pain and swelling
  • Swelling in the legs and ankles
  • Itchy skin
  • Dark colored urine
  • Pale colored stool or bloody or tar-colored stool
  • Chronic fatigue
  • Nausea or vomiting
  • Loss of appetite
  • Tendency to bruise easily

Treatment for liver disease

Complications of liver disease vary depending on the cause of your liver problems. Untreated liver disease may progress to liver failure.

Some liver problems can be treated with lifestyle modifications, such as stopping alcohol consumption or losing weight and careful monitoring of liver function.
